Front Royal, Va.- The Christendom Crusaders women's volleyball team turned in a strong performance on Saturday, sweeping Mid-Atlantic Christian University 3–0 in front of the home crowd. The Crusaders controlled the match from start to finish, winning by set scores of 25–17, 25–17, and 25–22. The victory marks Christendom's fourth of the season and highlights the team's growth as the season progresses.
Leading the way offensively was junior outside hitter Lucy Stahl, who tallied 12 kills on a .241 hitting percentage while also contributing 13 digs for a complete all-around performance. Serenity Fedoryka added 11 kills on a .200 hitting percentage, giving the Crusaders a reliable one-two punch at the net. Elisabeth Reese set the tone for the offense with 28 assists, consistently finding her hitters in rhythm and spreading the attack effectively.
On defense, the Crusaders were anchored by Stahl and libero Aimee Simpson, who recorded 10 digs of her own to keep rallies alive and frustrate the Mid-Atlantic Christian offense. The team's balanced attack and consistent defensive pressure proved to be the difference, as Christendom held off a late rally from the Mustangs in the third set to close out the sweep.
The Crusaders continued their momentum into their next game against Patrick Henry, sweeping them in straight sets, with scores of 25-17, 25-10, and 25-16. The Crusaders were powered by middle hitters Feforyka and Lucy Pennefather, with 13 and 10 kills, respectively.
Up Next: With the wins, Christendom improves to 5–11 on the year. The Crusaders continued play later in the day against Patrick Henry and will return to action on Tuesday, September 30, when they face Mary Baldwin on the road.
