Front Royal, VA — Christendom College women's soccer showcased their composure and control on Thursday afternoon, earning a 2-1 victory at home over Penn State Mont Alto on Senior Day.
Despite the Lady Crusaders creating some opportunities in the first half, neither team was able to capitalize, resulting in a scoreless first half.
The Lady Crusaders continued to dictate the pace in the second half, maintaining pressure in the attacking third and controlling the midfield. Their persistence paid off when Ava Hudson found the back of the net in the 56th minute for the first goal of the match.
Christendom continued to push forward, and midway through the second half, Claire Santschi delivered a goal off a pass from Hudson, capping off a patient build-up and giving the home side a 2-0 lead.
The Nittany Lions scored late in the match to bring the lead down to one, but from there, the Crusaders maintained possession and managed the clock effectively, keeping Mont Alto from generating any more goal-scoring opportunities in the final minutes.
Up Next: With the win, Christendom improves their season record to 7-3 and builds momentum as the postseason approaches. They have a small break in the schedule before hitting the road to take on Central Penn and Manor on October 24 and October 25.
