Purcellville, VA – The Christendom Crusaders Women's Basketball team faced off against the Patrick Henry College (PHC) Sentinels on the road on Tuesday, December 3rd.
Both teams came out with aggression from the tip off. The Sentinels found their rhythm quickly and hit several early shots, but the Crusaders adjusted won the first quarter 24-17. In the second quarter, the Crusaders stepped up their defense and held the Sentinels to five points, scoring 16 more themselves and the score was 40-22.
As the second half began, the Crusaders upped their offensive game and their defense remained strong, causing PHC to struggle to score. The Crusaders outscored the Sentinels 23-5 in the third quarter, which ended with a score of 63-27. The Sentinels fought to decrease the Crusader lead in the fourth quarter, but Crusaders did not relent and finished the game with a 82-40 victory.
Catherine Thomas (Senior/Corpus Christi, TX) led the game in points and rebounds, earning a double-double with 30 points and 19 rebounds. Mary Pennefather also earned a double-double, racking up an impressive 25 points and 13 rebounds.
